CIS BOARD

Our vision centers on advancing immunology research, education, and clinical application to improve global health, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote equity in the field.
President

Dr Godwin Nchinda

“Deputy Director General of the Chantal Biya International Reference Centre (CIRCB); Head of the vaccinology and biobank laboratory, President of the Cameroonian Society of Immunology. He is expert in optimizing vaccine candidates against infectious diseases for preclinical and clinical evaluation in sub Saharan Africa. He has developed DNA, viral vectored and protein vaccines targeting the encoded HIV-1 vaccines to dendritic cells in situ.

Vice-President

Dr. Justin Nono

“Immunoparasitologist and molecular biologist specialized in the study of Schistosomiasis and currently working as Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and Head of the associated unit of Immunobiology of Helminth Infections at the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plants Studies of Cameroon, with a secondment as honorary senior Lecturer at the Division of Immunology of the University of Cape Town in South Africa”

Secretary General

Pr Georges Ikomey

“Senior lecturer in the Department of Zoology at the Faculty of Science of the University of Bamenda (Cameroon). His research focuses on the immunology and molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases. Project coordinator of  the malaria genomic surveillance at the Pathogen Genomics Laboratory of the National Public Health Laboratory (LNSP) of Cameroon. He is currently focused on the characterisation of mechanism associated with the susceptibility / resistance of mother and child to Plasmodium infection and pathology, parasite ploys put in place to evade the immune response and control of the disease.”

Treasurer

Pr Rosette Megnekou

Professor of Immunology/Physiology, from the Laboratory of Animal Physiology and Therapeutic Research (LaPART in the Department of Animal Biology and Physiology of the Faculty of Science, University of Yaoundé I (UYI), Cameroon. She is also a research team leader at the Immunology Laboratory of the Biotechnology Center (BTC) at the same University. She is particularly interested in the immunology and pathophysiology of transmissible diseases in general such as HIV-associated immunopathology and the microbiome, but particularly focuses on placental malaria (PM).

Secretary for Finance

Dr. Livo Esemu

“Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Buea. He actively pursues his research as scientist at the Centre for Research on Emerging and Reemerging Diseases (CREMER) in Cameroon, actively contributing to translational research initiatives focused on understanding hosts’ response to viral infection at the materno-fetal interface as well as combating HIV reservoirs in the context of the unique viral diversity present in the Congo Basin.”
